Meet Irena Feldman, owner of DecArte and Featured Business Owner at SCORE Chicago this week. Learn how she started, and what tips she has for your success.
What is your company’s elevator pitch?
Using art as a focal point, says Irena Feldman, DecArte creates unique interiors that reflect client’s personality or brand. Art rental and buying options make it accessible and affordable.
What inspired you to start your business?
The idea that people would like to have more original art to make their lives or working environments more enjoyable, interesting and sophisticated – this was the inspirational start point for me.
Who are your clients, and give an example of how you served that person or business?
I am helping residential clients to find the art they love and design their space around it. They can buy artwork or rent them on a monthly base, as well as return, exchange or buy later.
The rental option allows our commercial clients to have a roomful of fine art for the price less then the price of a single piece and do and re-do an office decor as much as they would like.
What is your biggest business challenge?
My biggest business challenge – get the market.
Who are your Mentors and how have they have helped you in your business?
Peg Corwin is my main mentor, who is terrific, very supportive and helps me a lot with all the online and social media marketing.
Also Nancy Bishop provides me with valuable guidance for my business presentations.
What advice would you give other entrepreneurs?
Market! Market! Market! As soon as you can – start developing your market.
