How SCORE helped.

In the short time since their grand opening, Tami and Leann’s business is flourishing, their 27 weekly sessions are completely full, and they are considering offering more sessions as well as possibly opening another studio. Mitch Morris continues to offer guidance to Tami and Leann on a regular basis. As the women said, “Mitchell provided us with an independent view on how to approach the business. He helped us plan for a successful studio opening and helped solve everyday business issues.”

How Did Your Business Get Started?

The Dailey Method is a unique combination of ballet barre work, core conditioning, stretching and orthopedic exercises which, when practiced regularly, strengthens and tones women’s bodies like no other workout.

Tami Conway and Leann Kurtzweil acquired a Dailey Method franchise, but needed assistance in obtaining financing and operating a successful business. In March 2011 they attended a SCORE workshop on financing options and subsequently began counseling with SCORE counselor Mitchell Morris. Mitch helped the two women refine their business plan, develop a cash flow projection and get financing.

In August 2011, Tami and Leann were able to open a 2500 square foot studio at 410 Green Bay Road in Kenilworth, Illinois, which features a spacious workout room with fully-equipped locker room facilities and onsite child care. Thanks to the assistance of SCORE and Mitch Morris, Tami and Leann feel that they can manage the challenges of running a business while, at the same time, balancing their family life. (They both gave birth while planning for their business opening.)
