A business mentoring program that aims to boost local entrepreneurs recently expanded to the Northbrook Public Library.

SCORE, a national nonprofit association that offers educational seminars and mentorship, helps connect small business owners with business professionals, said Alan Blitz, a SCORE mentor at the Northbrook Public Library.

The Chicago-area chapter of the organization has 130 business mentors who volunteer through the program. They meet with small business owners at libraries, banks and chambers of commerce, he said.

“(The mentor sessions) are designed to facilitate the business owner’s or the business developer’s development and growth of their business,” Blitz said. “We serve as a guide and a coach to the clients in evolving their businesses.”
