Preparture, Iyobosa Ero
Preparture launched successfully and has been made available on Apple and Android platforms. They are reporting more than 50,000 downloads and more than 35,000 active users.
Preparture is an online solution for travel agents, travel operators and travel content creators that enables them to create, manage and sell curated experiences.
Determining capital sources and creative resources were early challenges for Ero. “Through prayer and extensive research, those challenges were alleviated,” he says. He was able to find a designer and a development team who understood his project and could work with his budget.
Ero attended a social media marketing workshop hosted by SCORE, which helped him align his business development goals with a short- and long-term social media marketing strategy. His next step was to work with a mentor.
“I needed someone from SCORE to provide me with strategic road-map focus, as Preparture at the time seemed broad,” Ero admits. He worked with Steven Lome, who offered a flexible meeting schedule to accommodate Ero’s full-time job. Lome and Ero met whenever Ero sensed a need or wanted to address a new phase of business development based on milestone achievement.
“Meeting with Steven Lome helped me set goals and milestones,” Ero says.
Iyobosa Ero was traveling with his girlfriend when his business idea struck. “We needed things to do on the last day before returning to Chicago," he explains. “Unaware of the time to get to the shops, distances and how long it took to visit those last places before traveling, and other timing factors surrounding last-minute shopping, we decided to reside at the airport for seven hours before our departure.”
Ero’s girlfriend --now his wife --named the solution that came out of that experience: an app, Preparture, that helps travelers and commuters plan their day based on their interests and the time they have.
